Bauge -en-Anjou and a surprise find.

3 Jun

Had a speedy drive along the Peage for a couple of Euros and parked outside the Chateau Bauge. This lovely old place had a high tech presentation which we all enjoyed.

We started off in the shade to keep the Kampa cooler and spotted a very busy market stall which was doing a huge trade in something. We investigated and my friend was so pleased to see a poultry seller with ducklings, rare breed chickens and guinea fowl. Something which he knew all about as a farmer in the UK and Australia. We spent a while whilst he told his memories and lavished praise on the dark brown eggs from these French hens.

There was also a children’s clothing stall but although height wise I could possibly wear some, my waistline prevents this cheap option of garb !

We walked around the lovely old town in the late afternoon sunshine then headed back towards Lac de Maine. We came across the farm where the stallholder was based and nearby the Angers-Loire Aeroport. We later found out that this was where the Museum of Aviation was based and decided to return later in the week for a full day there. (see the next post)
