Taking a break from outlining the Scottish Trip. The NEC Show.

wilax citroen pulsar

Just back from the Motorhome and Caravan Show at the NEC. This shows the 5 metre long (what a sensible size !) Citroen Pulsar from Wildax , Halifax. For us, it represents a step between our current NV200 campervan and our much missed Trigano Tribute. The Pulsar has a fuel friendly pop top roof. (remember that fuel consumption has a LOT to do with frontal vehicle cross sectional area). There is a super shower, toilet and washroom, four belted seats and a roof bed. There were loads and loads of people queuing to view it. This rare short wheelbase motorhome is hitting a niche market which I believe should not be niche! Do we really all want the parking issues associated with 6 metre plus panel van conversions? Have the converters actually used these long bodied motor caravans in real conditions?devon transit firefly hi-top

This one is a Devon Ford Transit Hi-Top Firefly. It has a more conventonal across the rear wc/washroom but no shower. I crawled underneath and had a look. It would be easy to fit a shower tray above the spare wheel frame but the sealing and waterproofing would be a little more difficult. Could be done though and my wife wants a Firefly……………. A chunky £36k with a much lower spec than our NV200 though !

Wingamm Micros on VW T5. Looks super compact. A bit oldey worldly maybe in appearance or is that just me? Fabulous futuristic interior treatment with bed hanging from the ceiling. Swooping curved shower room and wardrobe. Luxury front lounge. Exceptionally smart ! As you may expect for £58k

The problem with higher roofs is that you will at some point drag all that polished fibreglass through tree branches. Tree branches look soft and squishy. They are anything but. Narrow roads and trees? Try Cornwall, Devon and other destination.

Had a great fun day out. But perhaps our current outfit still meets all our needs? May try a bit of updating on the Microlight. Spruce it up a bit. Perhaps some Wingamm Micros badges would help…………..

This was another option which we gave some thought to. Swap the Freedom Microlite for a similarly small but more comfortable and more modern caravan. This Trigano Silver 310 was more comfy inside and would not detract too much from the view at Chateau Dinkum. Not cheap though. We shall see.
